Concept & Design:
The office for Team Shabnam
at Haute Street Corporate Park is a reflection of the style of interior works that the designers practice – a fusion of traditional & modern contemporary interior design. The pursuit of making
interior spaces superlatives in form & function is very much evident in the overall planning & use of colours and elements. From muted tones of monochrome grey to wood as a complimentary element, the
creation of a strategic mezzanine floor in the available height; space is not only utilised to its fullest but also good in terms of visual aesthetics.
The Directors’ Chamber is a compact yet cosy area designed in a fusion of conventional& contemporary decor. Vibrant handmade tiles & an alluring chandelier are the primary highlights of the
area; which bring in the traditional flavour to the space. Apart from the traditional flavour in the elements and furniture; a lot of thought has been put into making the space functionally intelligent. The
sliding door in between the conference room and the chamber is one such thing making both the areas an extension of each other.
On the other end of the conference the concept of making an area a part of another space is being continued by the use of transparent glass. This makes the conference room a transitional space between the
employees work area and the director’s chamber. The primary work area is designed in contemporary style with the intelligent mix of form & function. the privacy panel on the aisle side is being
converted into storage cupboards giving it a dual function. The corridor here houses the staircase which connects to the mezzanine above.
The conference room is therefore the prefect transitional space, not only between the employees work area and the director’s chamber but also in terms of design theme – classical to modern.
The staircase itself is being treated as a design element. First it facilitates the usage of the space above creating extra space for the employees. Second it creases space underneath for storing samples etc.
The open space with wooden flooring is a designers paradise – the material sampling area. The mezzanine area in soft carpeted floor is done in contemporary style overlooking the grandeur of the space
below. This once again creates the perfect transition from traditional to modern style of design.
The second chamber doubles up as the lounge making it the perfect area for rejuvenation. It also provides for the much needed privacy in the open office plan.
The entrance to the office is kept as grand as possible with a 10 feet height door finished in a shade of light pink to bring in a flavour of royalty. The entrance area houses the waiting lounge desk –
a bar height table with stools. this acts as the discussion space for the designers with vendors and visitors. Also placing it right at the entrance eases out the cumbersome task of going around the office
for visitors.
